2019 WVU Viola Day: November 16, 2019
Hello Viola Friends,
You are cordially invited to our 6th annual West Virginia University Viola Day. It will be held at the WVU Creative Arts Center on Saturday, November 16. The day will begin with registration at 9:00am and will conclude with an ensemble reading session at 5:00pm. Activities will include guest artists, technique classes, "viola yoga," vendors, viola ensemble reading session, lectures, social activities, and performances by renowned guest violists, Jacob Adams, assistant professor of viola at the University of Alabama, Prof. David Harding, professor of viola and chamber music at Carnegie Mellon University, as well as, WVU Viola Professor Andrea Houde. WVU Viola Day is open to students of all ages, teachers, professionals, and anyone who loves the viola. Please contact Prof. Houde if you have an interest in performing in a master class. Any performer that has prepared solo repertoire will be considered as a master class participant. Vendors from multiple states will be on-site for minor repairs, bow rehairs, and to display instruments (not just violas!) and accessories. Please let us know if you have specific requests for our vendors. Last year we had at least four states represented among our attendees and violists of all ages and abilities. We hope that even more can join us this year, so please help spread the word!
